Summer Adventures

This summer my family and I traveled around Oregon and went to California.  It was epic.

About to swim in the ocean at Laguna Beach, CA

In June we flew to California, and when the plane landed my little brother projectile vomited.  (Yay family vacations!)  We went to Disney Land and California Adventure, which was a blast.  We discovered a new ride called "Big Thunder Rail Road" and rode it about five or six times.

We also spent a day at Laguna beach and two days at Huntington beach.  Both of the beaches are different from the Oregon coast, but the biggest and best difference was the water temperature.  In Oregon you can't dip your toes in the water for more than 60 seconds without becoming hypothermic.  In sharp contrast, the ocean in California feels like a huge warm bathtub.

A glacier run off at Trillium Lake, OR

In July we went camping around Mt. Hood.  My family just started camping, now that everyone is older.  We set up camp at Tollgate campground.  This isn't one of those RV parking lot camping grounds, but at Tollgate you feel like your actually camping in the middle of the woods.

The first full day my older sister, my little brother, my dad, and I mountain biked from the top of Timberline all the way down to our campground.  Descent.  After the ride we needed to cool down, so we took a dip in the bone chilling river, this was not a wise decision.

On the last day we went up to Trillium Lake, the scenery was phenomenal.  There was a perfect view of Mt. Hood and glacier run offs where the lake turned into a marsh land.  We swam in the lake until it was time to head home.

My summer also consisted of a lot of Kombucha and Peaches.  It was swell.
